Microsoft is stepping up the pressure on Windows 10 users: from October 2025, Microsoft 365 applications will no longer be officially supported under the discontinued operating system. The software company is therefore urging users to switch to Windows 11.
As Microsoft announced in a blog post, support for the Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 will end at the same time as the end of Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. Windows 11 will then be required to continue using the office software.
The applications will not immediately stop working after the deadline, as can be seen from a support document updated in December. However, Microsoft warns of possible performance and stability problems that may occur over time.
However, the adoption of Windows 11 is lagging behind expectations. One of the main reasons for this is the strict hardware requirements: Many computers do not meet the requirements for the upgrade, in particular the TPM 2.0 requirement, which Microsoft classifies as “non-negotiable”. The company is now trying to persuade Windows 10 users to buy new hardware with full-page notices.
