Five years ago, Samsung caused a stir at the CES technology trade fair with a yellow robot ball. It will soon be available to buy.
Samsung is set to launch a spherical robot for the home that was announced years ago. The device, called Ballie AI, will be available this year, the electronics giant announced at the start of the CES technology trade fair in Las Vegas. There was still no information on the price.
Samsung presented the first version of Ballie five years ago in Las Vegas. The device rolls around the home and can communicate with the help of a camera and projector. In a demonstration, Ballie projected a movie onto the wall, among other things. The robot also answered the question of which of two types of wine shown would go better with a particular meal.
Amazon had already unveiled a robot for the home called Astro in 2021, which can also drive around the home. However, the world’s largest online retailer is still only offering the devices to selected interested parties in the USA – and the attempt to use them as surveillance robots has since been abandoned.
