According to information from an anonymous source that has been available to it-daily.net since midday, NürnbergMesse has been the victim of a phishing attack. Data is said to have been accessed in the process. The exhibition company has now also confirmed the attack.

The timing of the attack is particularly critical: from October 22 to 24, the IT security trade fair it-sa in Nuremberg, one of the most important trade fairs for IT security in Europe. It is organized by NürnbergMesse GmbH. The inside source told it-daily.net that the attackers had managed to access internal data.

NürnbergMesse GmbH confirmed in writing to it-daily.net in the evening that it had been the victim of a phishing attack. “All affected e-mail addresses have been identified and have been notified individually. We take the protection of our customers’ personal data very seriously and are in close contact with the relevant authorities.” It also states: “We also immediately initiated extensive measures to defend against the attack, such as the immediate blocking of the affected account, the ongoing monitoring of login activities and evaluation for anomalies.

However, no data outflow has been detected at present. User data from the it-sa 365 digital platform is also not affected.
