The Schwarz Group, parent company of well-known retail chains Lidl and Kaufland, reports facing a flood of up to 350,000 cyberattacks according to their own statements.
Gerd Chrzanowski, CEO of the Schwarz Group, recently mentioned these figures in an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung. “As the Schwarz Group, we had about 3,500 attacks daily before the Ukraine war. Now we are attacked 350,000 times a day, mainly from Russia,” Chrzanowski said.
To counter this threat, the Schwarz Group has developed a comprehensive strategy. The company is focusing on developing its own AI-based security solutions in collaboration with the US company ServiceNow. This software is intended not only for their own protection but will also be made available to other companies in the retail sector: “We compete on eggs, bananas, and milk. But not on cybersecurity. Here we need to work together. If one of us is attacked, it affects us all,” Chrzanowski said.ski.
