The tax dispute between the US group and the Italian tax authorities has been going on for years. Now a line is to be drawn.

Google will pay 326 million euros to Italy in a tax dispute that has been going on for years. The company has already transferred the sum to the Italian tax authorities, as announced by the Milan public prosecutor’s office. The Internet company confirmed the out-of-court settlement. “Google and the Italian tax authority have reached an agreement and settled a tax audit for the period between 2015 and 2020 without litigation.”

At the same time, public prosecutor Marcello Viola announced that he would request that the tax evasion proceedings against the Irish subsidiary Google Ireland Limited be dropped. The dispute concerned allegations that the US company had tried to avoid paying taxes in Italy via Ireland.
