Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok 3, which is considered a competitor to ChatGPT, is about to be released. The new version should be available in one to two weeks.

Musk himself praises the technical progress of his chatbot. “Grok 3 has very powerful logical capabilities. In the tests so far, it’s outperforming everything that’s been released as far as we know. That’s a good sign,” he explained at the World Government Summit in Dubai.

xAI versus OpenAI: a power struggle in the AI world

Musk is pursuing ambitious plans with his company xAI in order to assert himself against established players such as OpenAI and Google. It is particularly controversial that he once co-founded OpenAI himself, but now opposes the organization.

A consortium of investors led by Musk has submitted a purchase offer of 97.4 billion US dollars to OpenAI. This is intended to give him control over the future of the company. OpenAI is planning to become a for-profit company in order to secure further investment – a move that Musk wants to prevent.

Musk takes a critical view of the development of OpenAI. “I think the evidence suggests that OpenAI has done well so far with a mixed model of profit and non-profit. Now they want to eliminate the non-profit part completely, and that’s really going too far,” he says.

To prevent this, he has sued OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and asked a US court to stop the company’s transformation. OpenAI, in turn, sees Musk’s actions as a contradiction to its own purchase offer.
