Apple is apparently planning a cheaper Vision Pro for 2025

Apple is undeterred in its efforts to shape the future of mixed reality, despite the muted market response to the Vision Pro headset so far. According to a report by renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, a new, more affordable Apple headset could be launched as early as next year.

In order to significantly reduce the price, the tech giant is reportedly relying on cheaper materials and less powerful processors. The EyeSight feature, which displays the user’s eyes outside the headset, is also to be omitted from the cheaper model. As a result, the headset will still cost 2,000 US dollars instead of 3,500 US dollars.

Gurman also outlines Apple’s ambitious plans for the coming years. According to him, a second generation of the Vision Pro is planned for 2026. Smart glasses, similar to Meta’s Ray-Bans, and AirPods with integrated cameras could then follow in 2027.

In addition to its efforts in the VR/AR sector, Apple is apparently also planning an offensive in the smart home market. The aim here is to develop affordable, iPad-like displays for the home. A multifunctional tabletop device with a robotic arm is also being discussed, which could cost around 1,000 euros.
