The Chinese technology company Huawei has announced an event for September 10, one day after Apple’s planned iPhone 16 presentation. It is expected that Huawei will present its first smartphone with three foldable screens, the so-called “Mate XT”.
In a post on the Chinese social network Weibo, Huawei published a teaser showing the silhouette of a triple-folding device. Even if the post does not directly confirm the smartphone, everything points to this groundbreaking innovation.
More than just a smartphone
In addition to the foldable smartphone, Huawei is planning to present a new version of its electric car “Aito” and a new smartwatch. More detailed information on the devices is scarce so far, but there is speculation that the Mate XT could have a 10-inch display and the starting price will be around 2700 US dollars.
Recently, Huawei CEO Richard Yu was spotted in public with an unknown device, which was probably the new Tri-Fold smartphone. However, nothing has been revealed about the technical details.
Competition from China
Interestingly, the Chinese company Tecno also presented a prototype for a triple-folding smartphone called “Phantom Ultimate 2” last week. However, it is still unclear if and when this device will be launched on the market.
Huawei plans to release the Mate XT in China first before it will be available in international markets.
