The messaging service Telegram has reached a significant milestone: As founder Pavel Durov announced on Monday, the company is profitable for the first time. Total revenue exceeded one billion US dollars in 2024.

Telegram has expanded its revenue streams with over 950 million monthly active users. The company introduced advertiser revenue sharing, channel monetization for creators, and a mini-app store. In the fall, Telegram was able to repay a significant portion of its bonds. “Over the past four years, Telegram has issued about $2 billion in debt. We repaid a meaningful share of it this Fall, taking advantage of favorable prices for the Telegram bonds. But there’s a lot of work ahead,” explained Durov on the X platform.
