Zscaler and Okta: New Zero Trust integrations

Zscaler and Okta have unveiled four new integrations designed to accelerate zero trust transformation for their joint customers. These new solutions are designed to provide contextual end-to-end security.

“The integrations announced today significantly deepen our collaboration with Okta and underscore our commitment to keeping our customers secure. Together, we are focused on helping our customers strengthen their zero-trust security posture in an increasingly complex risk landscape where rigorous user identity management and enforcement of adaptive access controls are more important than ever,” said Amit Raikar, Vice President of Technology Alliances and Business Development at Zscaler.

“In the age of AI, it is only possible to protect customers effectively by mobilizing the security ecosystem. Point security solutions address individual areas but do not integrate with each other, increasing complexity. That’s why Okta and Zscaler have invested in deep integrations that accelerate the Zero Trust journey and improve the security posture of our joint customers globally,” added Stephen Lee, Vice President of Technical Strategy and Partnerships at Okta.

Organizations continue to face the challenge of securing remote users, cloud applications and hybrid IT environments. Zscaler and Okta therefore want to work closely together to ensure secure access to cloud and web applications through deep integrations, while minimizing disruption to users.

The integrations of Zscaler and Okta

Adaptive access controls: The integration of Zscaler Adaptive Access and Okta allows organizations to dynamically adjust context-based access policies. This includes expired passwords, compromised credentials or high-risk user behavior. Zscaler’s use of Okta’s user risk telemetry builds on a previous integration where Identity Threat Protection with Okta AI processed risk telemetry from Zscaler Deception to respond to compromised credentials or insider attacks. Bidirectional risk telemetry improves threat detection and defense.

Dynamic step-up authentication: Zscaler Adaptive Access can trigger step-up authentication with the Okta Workforce Identity Cloud when high-risk behavior is detected. In such cases, the user must go through additional authentication procedures before sensitive resources such as Salesforce can be accessed.

Security data contextualization and unified vulnerability management: Zscaler’s Data Fabric for Security is designed to enrich data from Okta logs and provides real-time insights into vulnerabilities and threats in the corporate network. This enables dynamic risk assessment and accelerates security measures via a central dashboard.

Zero Trust Partner Access: Zscaler’s Zero Trust Exchange platform with Cloud Browser Isolation (CBI) provides secure, agentless access to web applications for external partners and third parties. They can access corporate resources from their own devices without the risk of data loss. Okta supports this with optimized identity and access management via the Okta Universal Directory.
