The Chinese IT group Lenovo intends to significantly expand its enterprise storage portfolio by acquiring the Israeli specialist Infinidat. With this acquisition, the computer manufacturer is strengthening its position in the lucrative market for high-performance storage solutions.

Infinidat has made a name for itself with enterprise storage systems that are particularly designed for cyber resilience and petabyte scaling. The storage solutions are primarily used in business-critical enterprise applications.
Strategic expansion of the portfolio
With the acquisition, Lenovo is adding high-end storage systems to its existing offering in the entry and mid-range segment. To date, the company’s portfolio has included flash and hybrid arrays, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), software-defined storage (SDS) and TruScale data management solutions.
“Infinidat’s expertise in high-performance, high-end data storage solutions broadens the scope of our products, and together, we will drive new opportunities for growth.,” explains Greg Huff, CTO of the Infrastructure Solutions Group at Lenovo. “We are excited and well-positioned to accelerate innovation and deliver greater value for our customers.”
Focus on enterprise customers
By integrating Infinidat, Lenovo aims to strengthen its position with major customers in particular. According to Lenovo, the Israeli company’s storage solutions are characterized by guaranteed service level agreements (SLAs) and special performance features in terms of performance, availability and data security.
“With Lenovo’s extensive global capabilities, we look forward to expanding the comprehensive value we provide to enterprise and service provider customers across on-premises and hybrid multi-cloud environments.,” emphasizes Phil Bullinger, CEO of Infinidat.
Synergies in development and sales
In addition to the product portfolio, Lenovo also sees great opportunities in the consolidation of R&D capacities (research and development). Infinidat has extensive expertise in storage software development, which should optimally complement Lenovo’s know-how.
The Group also intends to use its global sales structure and supply chain expertise to further expand its business with enterprise storage solutions.
